Research

Genetics, epigenetics and genomics in plants. Developmental genetics of reproduction in flowering plants (sexual development; apomixis). Elucidation of the genetic basis and molecular mechanisms that control gametogenesis and early seed formation. Epigenetic control of gametogenesis, embryogenesis and endosperm development in Arabidopsis thaliana and Zea mays. Evolutionary origins and domestication of maize. Functional genomics in plants.
